Start with the easy stuff
- Replace the remote battery — the #1 cause, and easy to overlook
- Try the wall button — if it works, the issue is the remote, not the opener
- Check the opener's antenna hanging from the motor unit for damage
- Move closer — weak range often points to a battery or antenna issue
Reprogram or clear interference
If a new battery doesn't help, the remote may need reprogramming to the opener (your manual has the steps, usually a "learn" button on the motor). New LED shop lights, a nearby device, or a neighbor's system can also cause radio interference that scrambles the signal.
When to call
