What the two lights mean
Your garage door's photo-eye sensors near the floor use colored LEDs. Typically one sensor shows a steady green (the sending unit, powered) and the other shows a steady amber/orange (the receiving unit) — and both must be steady, not blinking. A blinking amber light means the two sensors aren't "seeing" each other, so the door refuses to close.
How to fix a blinking sensor
- Clear anything in the door's path or blocking the beam
- Wipe both lenses clean (dust, cobwebs, and sun glare all interfere)
- Gently adjust the blinking sensor until its light goes steady
- Check the wires aren't loose, pinched, or chewed
When both lights are steady, the door should close normally.
